35 Students benefits from Sokoto State International Scholarship
No fewer than 35 students has been awarded an international scholarship by the Sokoto State government to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Computer, Electrical Engineering, etc at the International Islamic University in Chittong, Bangladesh.
Announcing the scholarship, the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Prof Musa Maitafsir, said that the gesture was aimed at revolutionising the education sector in the state, urging the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.
In his reaction, the spokesman of the students, Bilyaminu Sama’ila pledged to live above board, in order not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
The Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, had earlier approved the sum of N657 million for the overseas scholarship fund in order to sponsor about 164 students to undertake various science courses in Bangladesh, India and Uganda.
