Prof. Kabiru Isyaku, the former Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education NCCE has made a revelation on why students doesn’t want to study in order to become a teacher.

Prof. Isyaku who was speaking at the convocation ceremony of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo said that the issues of poor salary, teaching and learning conditions, lack of career progression, inadequate training are the major reasons people shun teaching profession.
He therefore appeal to government to improve the working condition of teachers in the country so that the profession will not go extinct.
Isyaku recalled that the Ashby Commission Report on Teacher Education led to the establishment of colleges of education in the country, saying the development has greatly contributed to teachers’ education.
The former NCCE scribe congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be good ambassadors of the country.
