The Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola has promised that the current crises rocking the state owned Lagos State University LASU over school fees increase will soon be resolved as the government and students are about to reach an agreement.
Fashola said the agreement will be beneficial to the students as the fees will be returned to a fair amount.
The state government had earlier instituted a seven-man executive council to look into the school fees problem in LASU and the governor is confident that they will reach an agreeable conclusion after the committee had studied the paper presented to them by the student body.
The governor reiterated that the increase in tuition was one of the recommendations made by a Visitation Panel inaugurated at the instance of the students in a petition to the House of Assembly.
The lASU chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU have embarked on a strike action to urge government to reverse the school fees increased by over 350 percent and students of the institution had held protests to press home their grievance.
