About 700 Katsina students have been sponsored overseas to study in different universities by the states scholarship scheme.
The Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema said that government paid school fees and allowances for the students for period of five years and the government has conducted another interview for a new set of students for the foreign scholarship scheme.
Restating his administrations commitment to boosting girl child education in the state, the governor said his administration has constructed 34 girls primary schools.
“We have established a department to take care of girls education,” he said.
Shema, also launched the distribution of instructional materials worth N900 million to students and teachers in the state.
He said it was aimed at improving quality of education.
