The first hearing on the substantive suit filed by Comrade Humphrey Onyemesili challenging the election of Comrade Ibe Cico Michael as the 2013/2014 President of The Students’ Union Government, SUG, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, UNIZIK, was yesterday stalled following the Defence Counsel’s preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the SUG High Court over the case.
The Defense Counsel O.O Anyanwu argued that The SUG High Court of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK), lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the case.
However, Counsel to the complainant R.C Ezechukwu SAL, maintained that the UNIZIK SUG constitution empowered the SUG High Court to entertain the Suit.
However, a drama was witnessed at the court room when the defence counsel told the counsel to the complainant during an argument that he should listen to him as he was there to teach him law. The judge at that point warned the defense counsel to stop misleading the Court.
Ruling on the preliminary objection raised over the jurisdiction of the court by the defence counsel was adjourned to Wednesday 19th February 2014.
